The Challenge
S&D Lifts was approached to provide a compact dumbwaiter lift for a lakefront property in Zug, Switzerland. The lift needed to serve three levels and provide a practical way to transport food between floors within a high-end residential setting.
The project also required the service lift to integrate discreetly with the surrounding interior rather than appearing as a prominent standalone feature.
The Dumbwaiter Lift Solution
S&D Lifts supplied and installed a 20kg dumbwaiter service lift within its own self-supporting galvanised steel structure. A hygienic stainless-steel car and stainless-steel hinged landing doors made the lift well suited to transporting food safely between the three floors.
Because headroom was restricted at the top level, a bottom-driven system was specified. This allowed the motor and control panel to be positioned at the lowest level within the kitchen area, rather than within the living quarters, while also allowing the upper landing door to be installed at the required height.
S&D Lifts also worked closely with the project designers to install bespoke facades in front of each landing door, helping conceal the dumbwaiter lift and integrate it seamlessly into the interior.
The Result
The completed dumbwaiter lift installation provided the property with a discreet and practical food transport solution across three floors.
By combining a compact bottom-driven system, hygienic stainless-steel construction and bespoke concealed landing-door finishes, S&D Lifts delivered a service lift that met the functional requirements of the property while blending into the high-end interior.
