The Challenge
Domino’s Pizza was preparing to open a new premises in Whitby, but two permanent steps at the entrance created an accessibility challenge for wheelchair users and customers with reduced mobility.
Because the steps could not be removed, the project required a compact accessibility solution that could provide easy access between the two levels without taking up valuable floor space.
The Inclined Platform Lift Solution
A vertical platform lift was not suitable because of the restricted space at the lower level. S&D Lifts therefore specified an inclined platform lift, providing wheelchair access between the two levels while using minimal floor space.
The lift was supplied pre-fitted to four stanchions, allowing it to be fully self-supporting without requiring fixings to the wall behind. This made it a practical solution for the existing entrance layout while keeping the installation compact and unobtrusive.
The Result
The completed inclined platform lift installation gave Domino’s Pizza a practical and reliable way to improve wheelchair access at its Whitby premises without major structural changes.
The client was extremely happy with the finished result, and the compact lift now provides easier access to the premises for customers with reduced mobility.
